\nWhen Isabel and Nick were searching for a building site on the South Coast to construct their holiday home, a few false starts eventually led them to a block tucked behind a property originally owned by Nick\u2019s grandfather and now belonging to his uncle. It was a place already rich with memory for Nick: he\u2019d spent many sun-soaked summers at the beach with his cousins. Initially the black wasn’t for sale, but after some negotiating a deal was done. A friend recommended South Coast Constructions. From their first meeting with building designer Matt Parker, the couple knew they were in the right hands.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

<\/span><\/a>ARTIST FEATURE<\/strong>
\nFor the fourth year running, Coral Street Art Space hosts Water People \u2013 an embodied expression of love and reverence for oceans, rivers and aquatic life. Each featured artist is deeply connected to water, a relationship reflected in subject matter and, in many cases, process. As waves and currents shift, so too does the natural world and the way we perceive it. In this exhibition, eight accomplished artists offer interpretations that move between past, present and imagined futures.<\/p><\/div>

<\/span><\/a>HOME FEATURE<\/strong>
\nVersatile spaces shift effortlessly from indoors to out. Generous breezeways with floor-to-ceiling windows and flooring, running seamlessly from brick to polished concrete, dissolve boundaries and introduce a sense of mystery. The materials are simple, but their idiosyncratic yet deeply thoughtful application makes the design compelling. Owners Matt and Jenna are clearly a couple with vision. They\u2019ve created a place that is both very liveable and of enviable style. Working with Alan Cooper of Finesse Built to design the layout and get the material balance exactly right was the masterstroke.<\/p>\n<\/div>
<\/span><\/a>VENUE FEATURE<\/strong>
\nI\u2019m meant to be interviewing sisters Chelsea, Nikki and Megan but somehow they\u2019ve flipped the script and are interviewing me. They\u2019re so warm and interested that it takes me a moment to remember I\u2019m the one asking the questions. Sitting together in their new restaurant and cellar door, Yonder \u2013 formerly Aldinga\u2019s Big Easy Radio \u2013 their curiosity is so infectious and their desire for connection so genuine that, by the time I leave, I\u2019m convinced anything they put their hands to will flourish. It\u2019s all hands on deck as the family prepares for an anticipated July opening.<\/p><\/div>
<\/div>
<\/span><\/a>WINE FEATURE<\/strong>
\nIn early autumn this year, we set out to get up close and personal with McLaren Vale\u2019s vintage 2026. Through this essay and these photos we have sought to capture a broad cross-section of the season \u2013 from small boutique producers to larger operations. Our hope is to reveal the intensity, energy and devotion behind the peak of the season for all involved, from viticulturalists, picking crews and heavy machinery operators to cellar hands and winemakers. And still we have only scratched the surface.<\/p>\n<\/div>
<\/span><\/a>ART FEATURE<\/strong>
\nStepping onto Michel Wyman and David Archer\u2019s sprawling rural property in Blewitt Springs, that first sight is an exploding cornucopia of creation, natural and human. Flowers and hand-made windmills. A swimming pool turned water garden. All before you enter the house and sheds containing treasures beyond the dreams of the most seasoned op shoppers and antique hunters. Michel Wyman (known affectionately as Chelsie), a creator of bespoke floral arrangements, and David Archer, a prolific artist and maker, share not just their lives but also a passion for the collection and stewardship of unique objects from other times.<\/p><\/div>
